I adore my NYE outfit this year. Though, l’ll admit the previous year isn’t too hard to top. Or the year before that. Or the year before that.
To cut to the chase, I’m incredibly lazy come New Years Eve. I think all the hubbub of Christmas festivities gets me so worn out that I just basically give up by the time December 31st rolls around.
So this year I’m ready! With my adorable sweater and sparkly shoes I can’t go wrong. Plus the sweater is pretty cozy so I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing too much, comfort-wise.
Speaking of New Years, I know this is the time to start evaluating our lives and getting real with where we would like to be, come this time next year, but I think it might be nice to start with appreciating how far we’ve come.
It’s hard to see progress in our own lives, especially when we are always focused on looking forward. Just as it’s hard to appreciate the blessings we have when we spend too much time looking behind.
So this year, before I get to my resolutions and whatnot I’m reminding myself of all that I’ve done. Maybe I didn’t hit certain milestones that I hoped I would. Maybe I didn’t complete m my previous resolutions. I can tell you now my plans were for sure detailed. But I did accomplish some things. I started loving myself. I fought through and am still fighting through some scary and painful things. Even when I have bad days I’m at least still putting one foot in front of the other. I started therapy even though it scared the hell out of me. And hey! I started my blog that I’ve been dreaming about for a long time!
We’ll never be perfect human beings. And life isn’t always going to go the way we hope or plan. But we can sure as heck recognize the silver linings. And we will be remiss if we don’t recognize in ourselves our victories, even when they seem small.
What did you do this year that you’re proud of?
