This beret look is so fun. It makes me feel like I’m some kind of time traveling French girl. And who doesn’t want to be a time traveling French girl? I know it’s so easy to idealize some time period you think would have been the best to live within, but wouldn’t it be awesome if you could just take a day and visit several different eras?
I’d start with the 60s. They really fascinate me. All that hippie stuff, the civil rights movement, girls starting to speak up for themselves and rocking tiny short hemlines as a way to say, “screw you!” to hypocritical misogyny (apparently I have some feelings on this).
Then I’d jump into the 70s. Farrah hair, disco dancing, and some of my favorite rock and roll hands down. I’d probably attend a couple concerts and make out with my husband, who I’d want to suddenly become a total stranger to me so that I’d get to feel that rush of youthful, carefree rebellion (which I never really took part in, being the good rule-follower kid that I was).
I’d jump into the 80s to check out the fashion and music again, then back to the 20s and 30s for some real fun.
Time passes way too fast, right? It’s so easy to get caught up in dying for the future to hurry up and get here, but before we know it our lives will be skipped past in this manner until the end.
It’s equally easy to reminisce too long on bygone eras of our lives, all the while again, missing out on what is right in front of us.
This is so hard to do. At least it is for me. But geez, I’m serious about learning how to do it better — this whole, living-in-the-moment thing.
How do you live in the moment?
Love to you,
Jess
