Living in Fantasy Land

The city in which I live I do not love. Wait, I take that back. I do love it in some ways. I was born and raised here, so it is home. But the vibe of this city doesn’t really make me feel at home. Not really.

When I’m especially aching to leave this town, I like taking a page out of Harajuku’s book and creating my own little world in which to live. I surround myself with things that inspire me of other places, I eat food that is more exotic, I listen to music that makes me dream, and most of all I put on clothes that make me feel like I am from somewhere else. And wouldn’t you know, my favorite place I like to imagine I am from is Japan.

That is how I’m feeling today, so this is the outfit I’m wearing. It might not scream Japan to you, but it feels like it, smells like it a little, to me.

I really love the simplicity of the dress and the leg slit addition that nods to the trend that happened on spring 2017 runways was really fabulous, and I’m happy to see it in something otherwise simplistic. And of course, as long as these comfy atheisure styles are in (hello shower shoes meet sexy fluffy lounge heels from yesteryear) I will be wearing them.

Also how old is too old to stop wearing my hair like this? Wait, never mind! I don’t care!
